Reaction of Mr Pawan K Ruia, Chairman, Ruia Group on Railway Budget for FY 2011:

“I welcome the decision to set up 5 wagon manufacturing units and a DMU manufacturing unit in PPP mode, particularly in the light of the mention of scarcity of wagons and coaches in the budget speech. I also welcome the promise of a modified wagon investment scheme. The immediate increase of 1000 Rt Km during the FY 2010 is a bold step towards future plan of 25000 Rt Km within 2020. However, we’d be happier if the target of procuring new wagons for the next year was increased from the level of the previous year. The targetted 944 mt freight loading for the next year shall be a benchmark and Jessop & Co Ltd is totally geared up to rise to the occasion to deliver the rolling stock needed for it.”
